This is one of my absolute favorite cold weather phenomena-DIAMOND DUST. It’s a form of clear air precipitation that happens at temperatures generally colder than -20 and under clear skies. Tiny ice crystals form in the extreme cold and fall out of the sky. Since it happens in clear skies, the sunshine reflecting on the ice crystals gives the illusion of the air filled with sparkling glitter.
