"Since there are ongoing outbreaks of measles in North America and around the world, it is likely that there will be additional cases of measles this year in Texas," the agency said.

The Texas outbreak primarily affected children and teenagers, nearly all of whom were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status.

Texas health officials also warned that there are still measles outbreaks happening in the U.S. and around the world, and it's likely that the state will see additional measles cases this year.
