Holders Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea became the latest countries to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals but did not have to kick a ball to do so, as the penultimate round of qualifiers began on Wednesday.

In a match with little scoring action, Equatorial Guinea and Algeria played out a scoreless draw after confirming their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The qualification format is very simple: 12 team groups, 4 teams in each, with 2 top teams advancing to the final stage. Before the decisive matches, the intrigue remains in almost all the groups
