A U.S. Army sergeant is suspected of shooting and wounding five fellow soldiers with his personal handgun on Wednesday at Fort Stewart Army Airfield near Savannah, Georgia, before he was subdued by other soldiers and arrested,

Parts of the Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia were locked down Wednesday after an active shooter was reported on the sprawling Army post, a spokesperson said.

At least five people have been shot on Fort Stewart after an active shooter was confirmed this morning, according to a military public affairs officer. They have been transported to Winn Army Community Hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not known at this time.
