Brendan Berg, the bassist of Winnipeg-based indie group Royal Canoe, was killed alongside his partner after a head-on vehicle collision on July 1st.

Brendan Berg and his partner, Olivia Michalczuk, died in the crash on Tuesday, band Royal Canoe said in a statement on Instagram. Berg would have turned 43 Wednesday, the band said. Michalczuk was 31.
