New York City Mayor Eric Adams asked a judge on Monday to set an earlier trial date in his federal corruption case next year, arguing the current date would impede Adams’ participation in his mayoral reelection campaign, according to court documents.

The case is set to go on trial on Apr. 21 of next year. Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, in a letter to Manhattan federal court Judge Dale Ho, asked that it begin weeks earlier on Apr. 1.
