At least nine states from Georgia to Delaware are under snow and ice alerts as a winter storm moves east -- with brutal, record-breaking cold temperatures in the Midwest and Central U.S. in the wake of the storm.

In the Southeast, more than 400,000 homes and businesses were without power Sunday morning in Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Flash flood warnings were issued across much of the region.

Flooding has inundated a swath of Southern states over the past 48 hours after more than 6 inches of rain fell in some areas.

Other Republican governors on the council are Ron DeSantis of Florida, Brian Kemp of Georgia, Jeff Landry of Louisiana and Henry McMaster of South Carolina.

Then the list was expanded last week to add Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. The recall affects oysters on the half-shell market, shucked, frozen, breaded and post-harvest processed oysters.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for oysters distributed to multiple states, including Georgia, due to possible norovirus contamination.

The FDA is advising restaurants and food retailers not to serve or sell, and to dispose of oysters harvested from parts of Louisiana between Jan. 10 and Feb. 4, because they may be contaminated with norovirus, according to an FDA news release.
