BART trains on the San Francisco line were running behind schedule in both directions on Wednesday morning after the Embarcadero station was temporarily closed due to police activity, the transit agency said.

Police were investigating a fatal stabbing early Wednesday morning outside the Embarcadero BART station in San Francisco.

Media reports indicated that San Francisco police were investigating after the stabbing outside the Embarcadero station. Inquiries to the department were not returned immediately. BART spokesperson Jim Allison said officials closed the station while police searched for a suspect.
