HOUSTON — An 18-wheeler-tanker exploded and caught fire on the US-90 Alternate entrance ramp at Fondren Saturday morning, according to the Houston Fire Department. Houston TranStar reported that the explosion and flames completely shut down the roadway headed west, as well as the three frontage road lanes.

A tanker truck caught fire Saturday morning on the US-90 Alternate entrance ramp at Fondren, according to the Houston Fire Department.

HOUSTON - First responders are on Highway 90 in southwest Houston after a tanker truck caught fire. The fire was reported on SH-90 by Fondren Road. The northbound lanes of South Main Street are open, but the southbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours.

Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz said two hurt firefighters should be ok but hundreds of people are displaced. It happened in the Spring Branch area.
