Passengers are advised that there will be no services to/from Rotherham Central from this afternoon until tomorrow because of flood risk associated with Storm Claudia.
A number of flood warnings are in place across Yorkshire after Storm Claudia brought torrential rain throughout Friday and into the early hours of Saturday. The Environment Agency (EA) said flooding was expected on the River Aire in Castleford, along the River Ouse in York, on the River Nidd in Hunsingore and at New Mill Dike in Holmfirth.
Like many nondescript hotels in provincial cities around the UK, the Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham has been used for years by the British government to house asylum seekers trapped in administrative limbo. There have been hostile protests here before.
