Flights at Detroit Metro Airport expected to be reduced as government shutdown continues
Detroit Metro Airport is expected to be on a list of 40 airports across the country that will fewer flights as the federal government shutdown continues.
In 2024, DTW saw nearly 33 million passengers, a 4.83% increase year-over-year. However, the airport still has not cracked pre-pandemic numbers, which peaked in 2019 at 36,769,279 annual passengers, according to Wayne County Airport Authority data from 2004 to 2024.

Detroit Metro Airport flight reductions coming amid government shutdown
Detroit Metro Airport is one of the United States airports that will see flight reductions amid the government shutdown, according to the FAA.
Reports from FlightAware, the website that tracks flights, say that 75 flights for the day into or out of Detroit Metro Airport (which is also known by its three-letter code DTW) had been canceled as of 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10.
Most areas saw just a couple inches of snow Sunday, but winter weather advisories remained in effect through Monday morning.
