While Juan Soto may be the highest paid player on the team, statistics show that Francisco Lindor has been the Mets' most valuable player this season.

On the same day he got elected to start an All-Star Game for the first time, Francisco Lindor was dropped from the leadoff spot Wednesday night with the New York Mets in a major tailspin. And the move paid off immediately.

Lindor was the only Met announced as a starter. Freddie Freeman beat out Pete Alonso at first base (61 percent to 39), and Juan Soto finished fifth among outfielders. Ronald Acuña Jr., former Mets prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker will start in the outfield for the National League.
