Metchie, who was acquired Sunday from Houston, is close with DeVonta Smith from their time together at Alabama, and also has crossed paths with Jahan Dotson.

Dotson could be a bigger part of the Eagles' offense this season, and Mukuba might've just pushed himself into the starting safety picture.

That's because of Elijah Cooks, signed by the Eagles to the practice squad last January after spending his first two seasons with Jacksonville. Cooks, who has three receptions for 38 yards in his NFL career, has had by far the best training camp of any Eagles wide receiver not named A.J. Brown.

Dotson believes a full offseason to learn the playbook and to develop a better chemistry with Jalen Hurts will help him be a greater part of the Eagles' offense.

The Eagles held their final training camp practice of 2025 on a rainy Wednesday morning. This non-padded practice lasted just 1 hour and 21 minutes before the final double-horn. The Eagles will travel north to face the New York Jets in the third preseason game on Friday night and final cuts to the 53-man roster are due by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jahan Dotson was acquired late in training camp last summer, so he knows what it takes to adjust to a new team, something John Metchie will have to do quickly.
