The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide jumped out to a 28–0 lead over the visiting No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, then survived a furious comeback bid to escape with a thrilling 41–34 victory in an early candidate for college football's game of the year.

No. 2 Georgia travels to No. 4 Alabama on Saturday evening for arguably the biggest game of the college football season to this point. The result from this clash of the titans will go a long way toward determining not only the final SEC standings but also the College Football Playoff race.
